Space for Dance Art is the home of ICK Dans Amsterdam, a vibrant hotspot for dance in the city. The doors of Space for Dance Art are open to everyone: you can enjoy exceptional performances and presentations, and you can gain knowledge in the media library or during events such as lectures, debates, or symposia. In addition, dance classes and workshops are offered at various levels and in diverse styles.

ICK Dans Amsterdam, the contemporary dance company of Amsterdam, is based in Space for Dance Art. In SfDA, ICK creates performances and rehearses its extensive repertoire.

ICK was founded in 1995 from the meeting between Italian Emio Greco and Dutchman Pieter C. Scholten. Their differing backgrounds led to a shared quest for a new dance vocabulary that embraces vulnerability and intuitive movement. In 1996, they wrote the manifesto “The 7 Necessities,” which lays the foundation for their vision of dance and the inner drives of the body. Their work has had a lasting impact on the Dutch dance scene, recognized in 2021 with the Golden Swan award.
